The Best And Worst Leggings From Online Stores

by Eden on January 20, 2013

I know leggings get a bad rep for being camel-toes waiting to happen, but I love them anyway.

Since I refer online shopping to the physical form, I’ve seen some awesome and some horrific leggings. So much greatness and fuglyness that I just had to dedicate a post to this.

Let’s start with the fugly because its also the most hilarious:

The Worst

1) The “Thunder Thigh”

I have no idea what the designers were thinking. And this is from Nasty Gal and I usually love their stuff.

I bet their “creativity session” went like this:

“Hey, you know the saying ‘thunder thighs’? Why don’t we make it an awesome saying by making them in legging form! Oh, and we have to add lightening cause thunder is actually a sound…haha…I’m so silly. We can’t wear sounds! This is going to be SO haut!!!”

2) The “Vineyard”

Once again, another Nasty Gal offender. I’ve always wanted to look like snakes are crawling up my legs!

Or worms, pointy vines, or spaghetti.

Whatever it may look like to you, it looks like fugly to me.

3) The Skeletor

Nothing says “gosh, I love anatomy” or “man, I wish I was skinny” like these leggings. I’ve seen these on multiple GOOD clothing websites like ASOS and Topshop, but what were they thinking coming out with this?! Way to encourage girls to love their bodies and up their calcium intake.

4) Unicorn Catastrophe

I love unicorns, but not on my lap.

Modcloth is the offender for this one. And what really baffles me is that its sold out!

Chicks apparently love unicorns all over their hamstrings. This is why chicks sometimes baffle me.

I know, those were harsh. But don’t fret, I have some cool alternative that I actually bought for myself:

1) The Mesh Panels

I found this gem on Nasty Gal.

Its actually very flattering and ads some spunk to your bottom half.

2) Hint of Lace

I got a pair from Tobi.

They’re super comfy yet nice enough to go to a party or some sort of night out. And if you’re worried about being cold, there is nude colored fabric behind the lace so you’re all covered up.

And one that probably some of you would put up as “the worst” but I personally love them….

3) The Garder-Belt Legging

I saw them on Nasty Gal, fell in love, and bought it the minute it got back in stock (it sells out quickly).

I know, they’re borderline skanky, but I think if you pair it with the right shirt, this is kinda cool.

Of course some of you might disagree with everything posted

Do you like leggings as much as me? Have you seen cool or fugly leggings online?

I live in stockings so I’m a fanatic. I like unusual stripe variations. Vertical stripes are fun. And I have some pretty cool thigh highs with buckles. Also borderline skank/s&m and I love em’.

Janetha posted some the other day and I seriously popped out of google reader and ordered them before finishing her post – I am now (im)patiently waiting for them to arrive

I love leggings, I wear them everyday and I wear them as pants. I know it’s wrong but it’s right for me because I look good in them. I mostly wear just plain black ankle length leggings but on occassion will wear ones with lace or sheer panel but still only in black. I am down to 1 pair of jeans and 40 pairs of leggings, hmmm does this make me a leggings junky?

“I know it’s wrong but it’s right for me because I look good in them.”

Sing it, girl!

” ads some spunk to your bottom half.” LOL I took that the wrong way.

I love leggings, and must admit I have been trying to buy the unicorn ones for months now – they are always sold out! I love them. A lot. I think they look really cool with a longer black shirt. The other ones are fugly though.

That Garder belt is insane. You have some seriously awesome fashion sense for seeing those, knowing you could pull them off, and executing awesomely.

Love all these websites. I’m literally on them everyday, like the strange clothes hoarder I am. Tobi has the best deals on pants, and ASOS & Nastygal are my #1 sources for weird fast fashion gems.

supa fly post. love seeing you do fashion.

Tobi is good for some things, not so good for others. They do have some cute pants, I agree! I like clothes and fashion, but I’m never one to start trends and tell people how to dress so I felt awkward even posting this. I’m glad you approve ;)

I love your fashion sense…my favorite are those mesh panel ones. I think I need a pair…but I REALLY need shirts/t-shirts more than pants LOL. Can you do a post on those??? I know you’re not a fashion blogger but you have the best, fun taste.

PS The Lisa Frank lover in me wants those Unicorn ones!!!

I think I really need a pair of those skeleton leggings. Where can I find them?

Karmaloop.com, I think they still have them.

Thankyou, Karmaloop has skeleton leggings and I am ordering a couple different styles.
Leggings are so much fun to wear that I don’t understand how some people are so against them.

I’m definitely not against them. Like I said, I just think having anorexia in the past, maybe the skeleton ones just freak me out a bit. But if you can rock it, do it!

I am not sure if they will look good on me but the skeleton ones will at least work for halloween. I wear leggings almost 24/7 but they’re just the plain black leggings. These may look weird wearing out shopping or to a restaurant but I willing to put them to the test. If I looked 1/2 as good in leggings as you do there would be no fear.

Are you serious? You have no sense of creativity or humor, I LOVE most of these leggings! I just bought the Thunder leggings and they’re amazing, “thunder thighs “XD lol if you’re pluz size you’re setting yourself up for jokes I guess. But really they are so cool. I have the skeleton ones, I bought those for last Halloween very cool. I agree the Garter Legging are bomb. I disagree with your review but eh. ;)

Like I stated, I’m not a fashion expert and you’re right, I have no creativity or humor whatsoever. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also think my history with anorexia makes me biased to hate those skeleton leggings. But to each his own. If you love the thunder on your thighs, go for it!

Eh, guess it’s fun to just wear something funky from time to time, and I’m sorry you had to go through that, btw you’re quite beautiful.
